The Church of St Mary with St Peter,
Anglican Parish Church
How to find us
By Train:
From Manchester
(Victoria): take any train heading toward Oldham Mumps.
From Leeds: take the
train toward Manchester Victoria. Change at Rochdale. You will arrive at Oldham
Mumps. The tip of the Parish Church's tower is just visible across town.
From Mumps station,
follow the underpass and walk across the superstore car park, heading toward
the shops.
On the other the other
side of the car park, two roads converge. Both are one way. Take the farther
(wider) road, which takes traffic travelling downhill. This is Yorkshire
Street. Walk up Yorkshire Street for about 250 yards.
After 250 yards, Oldham
war memorial will be visible on your right. It resides in the grounds of Oldham
Parish Church.
By Car:
If you are using
satellite navigation, the Church's postcode is OL1 3UH.
From the M62: leave the motorway at
junction 20 heading toward Oldham along the M627. After about 2 miles, take the
second exit, signposted A627 ‘Oldham, Royton, Shaw'. The PC World
megastore will be visible at the roundabout at the top.
At this roundabout, take the second
exit along the A627 Chadderton Way, following the signs to the Hospital. Half
way along, you will pass a huge B&Q Supermarket on your left.
At the next roundabout,
again take the second exit, at the
red-brick church. This is Chadderton Way. Go to the end of the road, after
about 2/3 mile. At the final junction, turn right. Very soon, straight after
the large boarded-up garage on your left, turn left up into St Mary's Way. This
road goes steeply quite upward.
After 300 yards, turn
right after Tommyfield Market (the second right after the Tommyfield Pub). The
church is visible from here, and is well signposted (as is Oldham Sports
Centre).
Just after the small
pedestrian crossing, turn left into Rock Street. There is a pay-and-display car
park at the end of Rock Street on your left. The car park is free on Sundays
and on weekday evenings after 6:00 pm.
